iLearn vision
At Albany Creek State School, we are dedicated to
transforming teaching and learning
through the use of technology.
We value and nurture creativity and collaborative thinking... attributes that prepare our students to become confident digital citizens within a globally connected society.
What is the SAMR model?
How digital technologies benefit students and teachers
At ACSS we embrace technology and promote digital literacy within a connected learning environment. Our students are regularly problem solving, co-operating, collaborating and self-reflecting, equipping them with 21st century workforce skills. With personalisation of student learning, digital technology also enables high productivity.
iPads provide the opportunity for teachers to create learning environments that are:
- Learner centred
- Flexible
- Personalised
- Creative
- Collaborative
- Encourage critical thinking
- Develop intrinsic motivation
- Free of 'blockers' to learning
Students using digital technology are:
Demonstrating their understanding by using a variety of digital resources and media;
Critically thinking, creating and innovating;
Receiving immediate feedback from both teachers and their peers
Monitoring and owning their learning;
Working at their own level, at their own pace while being guided and supported by their teacher;
Engaging in independent, whole class or small group learning and in our global community; and
Students who have continuous access to educational materials can share their digital work with families. This strengthens links between home and school by promoting communication on lesson content and student outcomes.
Accidental damage, insurance and warranties
It should be noted accidental damage to a device is the owner of the device’s responsibility. You may want to investigate your own insurance options, including AppleCare+ and extended warranties. Consider costs involved in device replacement due to accidental damage. Read insurance or accidental damage policies carefully.
Students and their parents/caregivers will be held responsible for inappropriate behaviour and/or the wilful and deliberate misuse resulting in damage to another student’s device.
