Performances
Performances, camps and tours are organised to provide musically enriching experiences for students. There are some costs involved in these activities to cover the expenses for visiting tutors, bus travel and other sundry items.
Each year a junior, intermediate and senior music camp for woodwind, brass, strings and percussion instrumental students is held. Camps are between 1 and 3 days in duration and are held during the day at the schools in the Creek to Hills Music Cluster. Schools in this cluster include Albany Creek State School, Albany Hills State School, Eatons Hill State School and Albany Creek State High School.
When the students of Albany Creek State School perform in their musical groups at different venues and special events, they are representing our school. The general public form an opinion about our school based, not only on how they sound, but also on how they present themselves in appearance and behaviour.
The students own self-esteem is improved by knowing that they look good as a united body. This is especially beneficial at competitions and other public performances where students from other schools are also competing or performing. With the school banners on the music stands and students in uniform, they represent a coordinated and professional look.
Instrumental Music Performance Uniform
It is important that all the students in the Concert Band and String Ensemble are dressed in the correct Performance Uniform for all performances.
Vests and bow ties are hired through the school library in term 1 and are required to be returned each year at the end of term 4. Due to the cost of making and replacing the vests and bow ties, each child will be charged a uniform hire fee of $15 per year. A $30 deposit is payable at the start of the first year the student joins the Concert Band or String Ensemble and is refunded when the student leaves the program at the end of year 6, provided the uniform is returned yearly in good order.

Excursions
Class teachers organise appropriate excursions for their students that will further enhance a topic they are covering. Sometimes parents are invited to help out on these occasions. Parents volunteering to come and help as a group leader are asked to make necessary arrangements for their toddlers. The role of the parent on excursions is to assist the teachers supervise the students (cost of entry will be paid by the parent). Permission notes must be signed and returned to the school before a student can depart on an excursion.
